If you're in for a night of gaudy entertainment, laugh your head off and yield to the animated ambiance of the truly artistic madhouse - The Bourbon Cafe. Everything you see or experience here will haunt your imagination long after you come back home, from the fiercely tangerine walls, an extensive menu, and actors waiting on guest, to spirited flamenco shows, theatrical sketches, and live concerts that run far into the nigh. Another place you wouldn't like to miss, especially if more toned down impressions are your thing, is El Corral de la Morería. But mind you, as the oldest and most sophisticated flamenco show restaurants in Madrid, if not the whole Spain, it might hit your pocket slightly harder. On the other hand, a professional combination of well-measured heel stomping, guitar mastery, and piercing poetry of cante (the song) is worth a lot more than you're probably ready to give. Whatever you budget and expectations of a locale, flamenco is to Madrid like a night is to a day - you may choose not to sleep but then the whole day sucks.
