A perfect place to escape the frenetic din of a city life is the New York's Central Park. Completed in 1873, the park was the first of landscaped areas of this kind in the US offering the city dwellers a vast 341 hectares patch of lush greenery. Today Central Park is an integral part of the city with formal walkways like The Mall and Literary Walk as well as the wild, woodsy areas of the Ramble on offer. But it's not only walking or jogging that you can do here. There is a cultural side to the Park too with public programs by the Central Park Conservancy, numerous statues, a small zoo, splashing fountains and the popular skating-rink. Shall you need a brisk walk in the morning, some vigorous roller-blading or a leisurely picnic, just enter the Park gates.
