If you are getting a flight out of Dublin, one of your options is to drive there. The Dublin Airport offers long-term parking facilities, but here is some useful information before you avail of this facility.

The first thing you should do is book your parking space well in advance. This will save you a lot of money and guarantee you a parking spot.

The Dublin Airport Parking offers both short term and long term parking lots, and the short term parking costs in the range of €3.50 per hour. The maximum daily amount here is €40, so you can imagine juts how expensive it can be to leave your car here for a while. However, with online booking the maximum cost of availing of exactly the same facility is €10. As you can see, booking online in advance, can save you a huge amount of money.

You won't get to save such a major amount per day at the long term parking, but when the marginal saving everyday is multiplied by the number of days for which you will be away, it will amount to quite a lot. The cost of using this facility, if you just drive in, is €9.50. However, if you make online bookings, you can even get a spot for €5.50. If the cheapest spots have all been booked, you can still get a spot at the next cost bracket, which is €6.50.

One of the factors on which the Dublin Airport parking cost depends on is the area in which your car is parked. There are two areas: the red parking area and the blue parking area. The more expensive of the two, as well as the more convenient is the red parking zone. But if you are going to be away for really long, the blue parking zone will be a lot more practical. Gettig out of your car and coming back to it will both be only a one time trouble, but you will save a significant amount. If you are not going for long, the red parking might be better.

The online booking options are very flexible, and you can even book a spot six months in advance. Obviously, it is difficult to know your exact travel plans so much in advance, but if you are booking your trip ahead for cheap airline tickets, you might as well do the same for your parking spot. The online booking option remains open till as late as only 12 hours before your arrival at the airport, though it is not a good idea to try booking at the last minute.

You can leave your car at the airport for as many as 90 days, but it is not a great idea to plan to leave it for more than about two weeks. The cost will be so high, that you would pay less to a special airline limousine to drop you to the airport.

All in all, for long term parking, Dublin Airport is very convenient, but be sure to do your research, or you will end up paying a lot extra!
