The Los Angeles Plaza Historic District also referred to as El Pueblo de Los Angeles is the oldest section of Los Angeles from which the city expanded. It used to be the city center under Spanish, Mexican and the US rule through most of the 19th century. This district is also home to the historic but commercialized Olvera Street and together with the 27 historic buildings around the main square they cultivate and retain LA Spanish beginnings. Come and experience some of the Mexican fiesta atmosphere among colorful stands selling shiny trinkets, have some burrito in one of the historic Mexican restaurants and let the strolling mariachi tunes take you back in time and history.
