What started as an oil magnate private art collection housed for a long time in his Roman-style villa in Malibu, is today's Getty Museum. Designed by architect Richard Meier, the vast art complex occupies 750 acres of land in the Santa Monica Mountain foothills and treasures an art collection so large it takes four exhibit pavilions just to present a part of it. For those having a fling for art, the museum is a must-visit as it displays European paintings, Rembrandt's and Van Gogh's to be found among them, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts along with decorative arts, European and American photographs and a vast collection of Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities. Don't miss it.
