The Minnesota Zoo is located in the Apple Valley, Minnesota, and it is an Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited Zoo which opened in 1978. The Zoo was pretty amazing even from the design phase, building the zoo in a rural area that was growing, which allowed them more room to grow. The zoo is run by the state of Minnesota. Look for Minnesota Zoo Coupons to get in for less.

One of the areas in the zoo that is unique is the Medtronic Minnesota Trail which houses animals that you can find in Minnesota. The trail was renovated in 2007, and features the Wolverine, American Beaver, Cougar, Canadian Lynx, River Otter, Gray Wolf, Coyote, Bald Eagle and the North American Porcupine as well as Minnesota Herps.

Another attraction is the Northern Trail, in which the animals can be seen from the monorail. This section features an Amur Tiger, the Mexican and Caribou. Also Przewalski's Horse can be viewed and the Bactrian camel and the Takin. Bison are also on the Northern Trail, along with Moose and Musk Ox and the Canada Goose as well as the unique Black-tailed Prairie Dog.

The Tropics Trail is made to look like a rain forest and includes animals such as the Gibbon, ring tailed lemur and the Tree kangaroo as well as the Red Panda and the Komodo Dragon. Also on the Tropics Trail, you will find the Tamarin, the Greater Indian Hornbill and the Tamadua as well as Flamingos, Otter, the two toed sloth and the clouded leopard.

Discovery Bay is also an attraction that is quite popular featuring the marine aquariums that hold over a million gallons of water. Guests that visit Discovery Bay can touch sharks, rays and starfish and see the four bottlenose dolphins. Other animals include the Leopard Shark, Swellshark, Grey Nurse Shark and Horn Shark as well as the Weedy Sea Dragon.

For kids, the zoo features the Wells Fargo Family Farm, and your Minnesota Zoo Coupons can help you get in the zoo and experience animals up close with kids able to pet goats, sheep, pigs, cows, chickens and horses. The zoo also features an IMAX theater on the grounds and an outdoor amphitheater where you can watch bird shows and concerts.

The zoo is open 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday in the Month of September and from 9am to 6pm on the weekends. October through April the zoo has the same weekday hours, and the weekend hours are also cut down to 4pm. May through September, the zoo is open from 9am to 6pm on the weekdays and 9am to 6pm on the weekends.

You may be able to find Minnesota Zoo coupons online, at sites like mnzoo.com, or through the zoo's own website, mnzoo.org, but their regular admission prices are $16 for adults and $10 for seniors sixty-five years old or older. Children get in for $10 as well, and under two are free. However, the IMAX attraction is a separate cost.
