As soon as the day starts in Montreal Downtown, one can notice it is a city like none other. It is the only capital city where the Sun rises in the South. Brushing that aside, this city has very liberalistic opinions, which can be seen from its constant support for gay activists. So in a way, it is a favorite tourist spot for homosexual tourists.

In Montreal Downtown, one can find a large number of hotels with their own bars and lounges operational 24 hours. The city has a very chic populace and is great for meeting new people. Canada has legalized same sex marriage, and the best feature is that one does not need to be a citizen or a resident to get married here.

In Montreal, majority of the crowd is catholically oriented and it is the capital city of Canada's multi-colored culture too. Hotels for every kind of budget can be found in Montreal downtown, and if you ask the locals they will tell you that ice hockey is the favorite sport.

Montreal is famous for the many festivals its hosts, prime amongst which are the Montreal Film Festival, the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the Montreal Fireworks festival. And many a people would probably have heard about Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the chief ballet company of Montreal.

Because of the countless churches spread throughout the city, Montreal is otherwise known as the "City of a hundred Belltowers". The term was more popularized by Mark Twain's quote ""This is the first time I was ever in a city where you couldn't throw a brick without breaking a church window!"

The prices for hotels here range from 23$-45$ or more each night depending upon the hotel. Hotel Champ de Mars was reviewed by A Lonely Planet. The hotel is not very big or stylish in comparison to those near the main town. It is small but offers comfort and privacy along with excellent service.

Another hotel the Montreal Escape Comfort is relatively new, the rooms here start at 58$ per night. Another hotel the La Tour Centre Ville has been a favorite choice for holding various conventions due to the service apartments it provides. It is almost like a tower right at downtown's centre and even has studio apartments besides the 169 rooms it provides.
