The question whether there are any worthwhile things to do in Cairns is as hilarious as it is ignorant. Sorry. How can there not be a myriad lifetime attractions in a place literally sitting on the Great Barrier Reef? It is here that people from all over the world come in droves for quite possibly the best diving on the planet. And what do they do between the dives? They watch the sunrise on board of a balloon that soars up high over the Atherton Tablelands, glide into the heart of the world's most ancient rainforest, tame infuriated rapids, throw barbecues at the Esplanade, bungee jump before breakfast , or just kick off their shoes and take a relaxing soak in a large outdoor, lagoon-style pool is in the center of the city. So in fact, it would be a lot more appropriate to ask what are the absolutely unmissable things to do in Cairns, and which you can, sadly but necessarily, put off until the second, third, and every consecutive visit. For there will be such, beyond doubt.
