If you're looking to go off strip the Art's District downtown is pretty cool. Lots of local work there, especially if you're there for First Friday (a fair they do every first friday of the month.) The Las Vegas sign that's easiest to access is on LV Boulevard just south of Russelll (south of Mandalay Bay), and you should absolutely go up to the top of the stratosphere at night once to see the city. Amazing. If you're only in Town one day and have never seen the Strip you probably won't leave. City Center isn't as nice as most people think, but the original Hard Rock Cafe is just north of the strip.
Madame Tussuad's Wax Museum is a great place to spend a couple of hours. There are several dozen celebrities that you can touch and get close to, making for great photo ops!If you have the benefit of a car, you may want to venture out of the city for a very different experience. A 45 minute drive will take you away from the hustle bustle into the quiet of the desert. Possible day trips, that may require an early rise and a late return, include--Hoover Dam, The Grand Canyon, Historic Route 66,Area 51, Death Valley. Visit the Voodoo Lounge for drinks, music, and the fantastic viewGet your picture taken in front of the Fabulous Las Vegas signGamble, drink as much liquor as possible, check out the cute guys by the pool, drink even more liquor, eat at the buffet and then drink some more ha ha ha ha its crazyVisit the Bellagio fountains at nightCheck out the Venetian hotel and take a ride on a gondola.
Circus Circus has an indoor amusment park..Outstanding. The Mirage has a Dolphin exhibit and a zoo with tigers and such. Mandalay Bay has the Shark Exhibit. (only one in the USA) New York- New York Has a Huge Rollercoster...Excellent. Excalibur has the Tournemt of Kings Dinner show. Too much to list.....The Stratosphere has rides on top of it....really cool and a little scary if you dont like being up in the air. Its about 1000 ft up from the strip, its the tallest building in Las Vegas. There are a bunch of Night clubs that are excellent..Studio 54 in the MGM is the one my wife and I go to, and one of the best around. Vegas has everything for anyone. Just remember... be careful walking the strip at night and watch the spending you do in the casinos. Vegas was not built on Winners. By the way...drink lots of water...even if you are not thirsty. A person can get dehydrated really fast down here and not even know it. Heat stroke can happen fast. Opps almost forgot... they opened a new museum about the mob and the early days of Vegas, have not been there yet but its bound to be very interesting.
24 hours a day there's something to do..you can hang out on Freemont street all night long,or the strip..The casinos are glamorous and glitzy!!We've got Hoover Dam up the road..Food to die for!!
All of the new mega resorts are quite an impressive sight. Mandalay Bay resort has an exhibition called Shark Reef which is quite the aquarium display and the Mirage has The Secret Garden of Seigfried and Roy which is a display of some of the white tigers formerly used in the S and R shows. Many of the strip resorts also have a Cirque de Soliel show, each is different and all are quite remarkable. In short, just visit the strip and be amazed.
