When the ears first register the words "spring break", for many people the first thing that strikes the mind are parties and college students having fun. But spring break in reality, is the perfect time for family spring break ideas, with loads of options available, even offering more than summer vacations.
The various spring break ideas might include skiing in the Rockies, visiting the Disney World in Orlando or maybe the Yellowstone National Park. Or your family could even board a cruise oriented specifically for families. There is no limit on the variety of options available.
Our family for instance, allows each member of the family to put forward their view on what to do. In this way everyone feels that they have made some contribution, and the final decision is arrived without any such feeling of being left out. Sadly though, at times the parents overlook the possibility that the kids too can come up with fantastic spring break ideas, so they need to be heard too.
Spring break vacations can be educational too. Your family can plan to visit some historical monument, park or event. The Cherry Bloom festival, started in 1912, which is held in Washington D.C., for instance is a great option. It is house to some 40,000 other visitors, and provides great outdoor food, entertainment, music and even a street festival. The festival provides the chance to see the cherry trees in full bloom besides the traditional D.C. sights on offer. And if you are lucky enough, you might get a chance to have a go at the White House Easter Egg Roll.
If your family is of the ‘adventurous' type, you would probably love to go to a family oriented ski resort. These resorts offer "kids ski free" for kids up to the age of 12. But these days, especially due to the economy, many other incentives like stay, rent gear at discounted prices are being offered. Some even offer "fly for free".
But then maybe due to budget or lack of time, your family might want to spend the spring break somewhere near to your home. In that case, plan activities like night outs or picnics, or day trips which include going for a hike or the museums in the adjoining areas.
Beaches, the most splendid spring break idea. Although there would not be many tourists present, but a family on a budget can have a roll here as the summer rates would not be applicable. During spring breaks, families can bring kites, as a large number of kite flying events are held here every year.
And in case you are a member of some automobile club, credit union or the AAA, do not forget to enquire whether you can be provided with some sort of travel discount. Often it happens that such clubs provide with great discounts and offers. So the spring break vacations need to be elaborate or too heavy on the pocket. It also means that your family spring break vacations can be a great together time, before you all return to your own normal routine lives back again
