The Sonoma Coast State Beach is one of the most magical beaches on the West Coast. It is ten miles away from the Bodega Bay and known for fantastically clean water. Furthermore, it catches the attention of around four hundred bird species. You can see osprey between January to September, gray whales between January to April and seal pups between the months of April and June.

The Santa Cruz beaches can be the best choice to enjoy a fabulous vacation since they are cited as one of the best beaches in California. You will enjoy a variety of fun experiences, one of which could be awesome train rides through the woods. Santa Cruz has around thirty miles of beaches. In fact, it is enough to make swimmers, kids, beach buffs, surfers, and sailboarders more than happy. If you're not into water fun then go for a long walk and enjoy your summer season.

Pismo Beach is yet another famous beach in California. It is in the heart of the wine country, so it's just a stone's throw from gorgeous Cambria, Santa Maria and Luis Obispo. Pismo has twenty three miles of beaches and is particularly popular among families. When you're done with surfing, swimming and fishing, there's plenty to do in town, including quads, dirt bikes, car shows, and splendid shopping.

Santa Barbara East Beach is one of the loveliest beaches here. However, make sure that you check out the quality of water before going for a dive and stay away from the water during the rainy season. In that case, there are multiple places for dining, shopping and entertainment. Even a small zoo is nearby. Kids will have a great time here.

I love Santa Barbara and their beaches! Beautiful pictures of all the beaches though. I spend a lot of time in SB so I am a bit biased. Great surf and soft sand, you can't really ask for anything better. Malibu is great too, and so is Pismo. Check out some beaches down in San Diego. La Jolla and Coronado have some great beaches as well.

Love all of these beaches, especially Pismo and Santa Barbara! So much fun on all of these coast lines. The cities along with them are great fun as well, I totally recommend! I was just in Santa Barbara and had a wonderful time with my family.

I love the pictures you have posted for each beach. Very reminiscent of the areas. I spend a lot of time on the coast and it's the best place to be in the summer time. Santa Cruz is just cold I feel like. The one time I was there it was miserable and nothing to write home about. Pismo tends to be overcast most of the time as well. The only recognizable beach on this list is Santa Barbara and Malibu. The hidden coves in Malibu are the absolute best to spend a day in. Santa Barbara has a great beach area and the downtown area is close by so if you get bored you can always walk downtown and grab some food or shop some!

Wow man, great list you got here for beaches in California! I'm a long time surfer of the area and I'd have to agree with most of these. Surprised you didn't add Rincon or Coal Oil Point in Santa Barbara. Pure beach for miles and no resorts anywhere close to them. Just the way nature intended them to be seen and appreciated. I've spent a lot of time in all these areas and it is always a great time with friends and family enjoying the exceptional surf this great state has to offer. Especially in Santa Barbara!

No San Diego or Orange County beaches? Really? This is really hard to believe this is a good list of beaches offered in California. Newport and Laguna Beach have some of the best beaches, so does Coronado and La Jolla. Beautiful places right on the coast. Santa Barbara is maybe the best beach on this list. Pismo is always so cold and so is Sonoma. Malibu isn't the safest place to swim around in but the surf is good. All along Santa Barbara you can find great spots to plant yourself and enjoy the day. Leadbetter, Hendry's, Campus Point, Butterfly-all good recommendations!
