It may seem a waste of precious time to trudge across people-packed museums in a country that may well be regarded an outdoor museum itself, but in this case not a single minute is lost. Though it is the National Archaeological Museum (also in Athens) that remains in the spotlight, Benaki seems to give a holistic portrayal of the country as well as its cultural and artistic transformation from what it was in the Antiquity to what it is contemporarily. Several floors will take you on a journey through various periods of Greek history, introduce you to the heroes of the Greek Revolution and let you witness the birth of the modern state of Hellas. Not only for history buffs!
