Norway OVERVIEW

You don't go there to bask in the scorching sun of tourist-packed seaside resorts. You don't make it your destination either if castles, museums or prehistoric monuments is all you expect of a good holiday trip. You choose Norway for occasional sightings of reindeer strolling right past your window, for the soul-enlightening aurora polaris and life-changing gaze at the Seven Sisters Waterfall making their way down to the Geirangerfjord.

A rugged coastline, neat wooden settlements against the most spectacular background of snow-covered peaks and unrelenting endeavors to protect the wilderness- that's what epitomizes the Norwegian mystique character. There are no suitable words to do justice to this divine quality that sweeps the country allover, from Arctic Tromso in the north to sunny, idyllic islands off the south coast, and from the fjord-studded west to the hilly and forested east. Cities such as Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim are most likely to take your breath away, and the gentle hospitality of the Norwegians is bound to make you feel at home. The pristine scenery is now and again enlivened with guest houses and small hotels luring visitors with the smell of seafood while huge holiday resorts offer a variety of budget and luxurious accommodations to suit all travelers' pockets.

Norway ranks amongst the richest economies in the world, though one can't help but agree that its financial condition is just part of what comprises its true wealth. What for a rational mind is a splendid promise of high living standards, for a sensitive eye will appear as a jewel box worth more than billions of krones. Whichever corner you choose to start from, pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, grab your camera and prepare for the unexpected.
