Log House Holidays

Holiday preferences vary from one person to another or from one family to another. While most of the families head towards amusement parks, or board cruise ships for vacationing, my family prefers going on log house holidays that are unique in their own way.
The idea of this innovative form of holidays sparked off at the time of our honeymoon. My fiancé and me were totally drained after the 60-hour work weeks, wedding programs and long commutes. One evening as we were sitting together I said to my fiancé, "my perfect idea of a honeymoon in the present situation is of heading off to a log cabin that is placed in the middle of nowhere and not have to do anything." And it happened just as I thought; we went for holidaying at a log cabin.
My fiancé rented a little log cabin placed in the midst of scenic vistas. The cabin was located at a distance of a 3 hours drive from our home near Los Angeles. We spent a lot of quality and mushy time with each other in the log cabin. The cabin was pet-friendly which made it possible for us to take our pet hound dog, Waldo along with us.
Today I am working wife and a mom of three kids of ages 3, 6, and 7. In the midst of all the responsibilities and struggles of my life, there is one thing that never changed -our log house holidays.
It is just the cabin size that changed to accommodate our family. We often rent log houses on weekends in the locations near to our home. These log cabins are encircled by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
I enjoy the cabin to the max. In the morning times when I watch the sun rising through my cabin window as I sip into my fav cup of coffee. It gives a very pleasant feel of relaxation and closeness to nature. The feel gets touched up by the company of husband and my pet Waldo as we sit on the porch chairs or the swing.
In the afternoons, we head towards a hiking trip with our kids. Hiking in the serene surrounds of the forests makes the day ahead very peaceful for all of us. In the evening times we wild away our time by the fireplace playing "Old Maid" card games, Scrabble or roasting marshmallows and sipping into our favourite brewed coffee. We spend our moonlit nights by gazing at the close starts of the sky from our hot tub. The far off sounds of owls or coyotes in the backdrop add to the natural feel of the log house holidays.
Me and my family regularly go for log cabin vacations as often as possible. Somehow we just cannot resist their charm.

Having been fortunate enugoh to visit Fromelles on the 19th of February, I cannot praise highly enugoh the devotion and professionalism that I and my two companions witnessed, what a fantastic and heartwarming sight it was to see those Soldiers getting the dignified burials that they so deserved. I can only say to those that took part and stood like sentinels with their Standards Well Done, you made an Ex London Fireman very Proud to have been part of such an historic event. To finish I would like to add that we went on to have four great days at various Cemeteries and memorials around France and Belgium and the CWGC cannot be praised enugoh for the standard of them all.
