I was there last weekend . took the Wicklow coach family trip from Dublin and they took us to Avoca (among many other places) and I had lunch in the pub . marvelous village, no wonder they chose it for the series

It was filmed mostly around county Wicklow and the village scenes, with the church and local pub, was in the village of Avoca.
Avoca is very easy to access from Dublin city and takes about 50 minutes to drive there.
